In 2024, Trifluvienne Pneus & Mécanique SL turned to Galvatech 2000 to extend the service life of their galvanized metal roof, which had been in place for over 40 years. The roof showed clear signs of aging: rust, corrosion, oxidation of the galvanization, and even a few minor perforations.
In this context, fully or partially replacing the roof was a costly and complex option. The large surface area, the self-supporting structure, and the risk of production losses during construction made this alternative difficult to justify. The owner instead opted for an on-site restoration — without dismantling — using products that could not only restore the original protection but also improve the building’s energy efficiency and overall aesthetics.
The Galvatech Solution: Restore Instead of Replace
To meet this challenge, our team proposed a two-step strategy:
- Reactivate galvanic protection using Rust-Anode Primer, a pure zinc-based coating that acts like a liquid galvanization.
- Permanently seal the roof with an aluminized elastomeric coating, carefully selected for its flexibility and resistance to UV rays, weathering, and thermal shock.
Execution Steps: A Turnkey Approach
Comprehensive Inspection and Spot Testing
A thorough manual inspection helped identify all rusted areas and pinpoint perforations that needed treatment.
Optimized Surface Prep at Low Cost
Oxidized surfaces were prepared by manual brushing, followed by high-pressure water cleaning. Perforations were sealed using aluminum membranes.

Application of Rust-Anode Primer
This liquid zinc coating was applied to corroded areas to locally recharge the galvanic mass and stop rust from progressing, ensuring long-term active

Application of the Finish Coat
An aluminum-colored elastomeric coating was then applied to the entire roof. Thanks to its reflective and flexible properties, it protects against the elements, adapts to the thermal movement of the metal without cracking, and reduces heat gain inside the building.

Quality Control
Each step was strictly controlled: coating thicknesses were measured, a final visual inspection was conducted, and the uniformity of the applied system was verified.
Why This Approach Was a Success
- Significant savings: no need to replace the roof
- Zero business disruption: work was carried out without affecting operations
- Improved comfort: the reflective roof significantly reduces interior heat
- Renewed appearance: a clean, bright, and uniform roof
- Proven durability: a system tested in demanding industrial environments
Expertise That Makes the Difference
At Galvatech 2000, we believe that sustainability comes from offering the right solution for each situation. Our Rust-Anode technology has proven itself on complex structures such as bridges, silos, marine infrastructure, electrical and telecommunications towers — and also on galvanized roofs.
Our Rust-Anode and Rust-Anode Primer coatings are also approved by Hydro-Québec for use in refurbishment projects involving metal structures exposed to harsh conditions.
The result: a protected, visually enhanced roof ready to endure several more decades — without compromise.
Is the galvanized roof of your building showing signs of wear? Our team is ready to support you with a custom solution that is effective, economical, and sustainable.
